This Thursday evening marks the official kickoff of the Thorik Takeover at blndsh gallery. From that moment on, the exhibition will be officially open — both physically at blndsh and online through our viewing room.
The Thorik Takeover brings together a substantial body of work by Lucas Thorik and marks an important moment in his practice. The exhibition reflects a period of focused making, experimentation and development, resulting in a collection that feels confident, layered and present.
About Lucas Thorik
Lucas Thorik works intuitively and consistently. His practice is driven by process rather than concept, allowing works to evolve through repetition, adjustment and physical engagement.
His work explores modern colour systems, abstract image construction, and the merging of traditional art with contemporary techniques, resulting in a hypnotic combination of form and colour.
For the Thorik Takeover, Lucas presents a wide range of works created over an extended period of time. The exhibition brings together mixed media works, in which modern techniques and painterly gestures merge into physical pieces. Each work is ultimately crafted by hand, giving the exhibition a tactile and grounded presence.
Rather than directing interpretation, the works invite the viewer to experience colour, composition, tension and balance as they are.
The Thorik Takeover
The Thorik Takeover is not a single series, but a broader presentation of Lucas Thorik’s practice at this moment in time. By showing a large selection of works together, the exhibition offers insight into recurring gestures, material choices and the evolution of his work.
Seen as a whole, the exhibition reveals both variation and coherence — a rhythm that runs through the entire body of work.
CHOOSE COLOUR — Opening Moment
As part of the kickoff evening, blndsh introduces CHOOSE COLOUR — an opening moment within the Thorik Takeover.
From 18:00 onwards, visitors are invited to engage with the exhibition through colour. Specially created polaroid-sized prints featuring colour fragments from Lucas’ works will be available for the first 60 visitors to choose from and take home.
